What Needed To Change
Many clients know they need a stronger website or product interface, but they struggle to describe the direction they want. References are scattered across competitor sites, moodboards, templates, and screenshots that do not explain the business problem behind the design. That creates friction before a project even starts. The client cannot easily compare directions, the scope conversation becomes abstract, and the design phase risks becoming subjective instead of tied to business goals. Mikel Studio needed an owned proof property that could show design capability in public while helping prospects choose a clearer direction: not a giant portfolio dump, but a structured library of industry-focused demos that can support website, landing page, dashboard, app UI, and Figma-to-production conversations.
What We Built
- Built Design Lab as a separate owned property for browsing live design demos without turning the main agency website into a full demo gallery.
- Structured the lab around demo types such as websites, landing pages, ecommerce, dashboards, mobile apps, AI apps, and internal tools.
- Positioned each demo as a business-facing interface direction rather than a disconnected template.
- Defined the Design Lab role inside the Mikel Studio ecosystem: attraction, proof, and lead magnet on the lab; trust and conversion on mikel-ltd.com.
- Created a routing model where prospects can explore demos on Design Lab, then return to Mikel Studio for a similar website, UI/UX, or production build conversation.
- Designed the future expansion path for demo detail pages, live HTML demos, design-file downloads, related designs, and service-page CTAs.
Outcome
Design Lab gives Mikel Studio a clearer way to show visual and interface capability without overwhelming the main Work page. Prospects can browse concrete directions first, then move into a service conversation with better language, clearer references, and stronger confidence. The result is a reusable proof asset for sales conversations: instead of asking a client to imagine a website direction from scratch, Mikel Studio can point to a live collection of interface patterns and use it to clarify scope, design taste, and business goals. This case proves Mikel Studio's capability across UI/UX direction, website design, landing page design, dashboard interface design, and Figma-to-production planning.
